This Webquest is an assignment for the students of Sarah Maier's Music Studio. It is geared towards first through third graders in the level one books of the David Carr Glover series. Students should already be familiar with composition.
Students will explore composition on paper as well as Finale NotePad. To do this, they will use a I-IV-V pattern. A I-IV-V pattern is a chord progression used commonly in pop, rock and classical music. Students will also add dynamics, or the change in volume, and accents, which is how notes are stressed.
As their final act, they will perform the piece they compose for a live audience at the end of the camp. I will be there to advice the process and ensure students are on the right track. This project is standards based, collaborative and creative!
